Acer Nitro 5 SSD Upgrade: Check the Slot, Clone, and Boot

Check the exact Nitro 5 model

“Nitro 5” covers many configurations. Use the model number and Acer service information to verify available M.2 slots, NVMe versus SATA support, drive length, mounting hardware, and battery-disconnection procedure. Some units have more than one internal storage bay; others require an enclosure to connect the new SSD during cloning. Buy for the actual model, not a generic Nitro 5 checklist.

Prepare the old and new storage

Step 1. Back up documents and game saves to a separate drive. Check the old disk for read errors, record the BitLocker recovery key, and note the current boot mode.

Step 2. Install the new SSD in a spare supported slot or connect it with a compatible NVMe/SATA enclosure. In Disk Management identify both drives by model and capacity. A clone will erase the target's existing contents; no preformat is required just because it is new.

Step 3. Confirm the target has room for every used partition on the source. If your games are on a separate physical disk, they will not be part of a clone of the Windows disk.

Install and verify

After the clone, shut down and follow Acer's model-specific service instructions to install the SSD. Select its Windows Boot Manager entry, boot without the old drive if possible, then test Windows, several games, files, activation, and BitLocker. Keep the source unchanged until the upgrade is stable.

Clone the Nitro 5 System Disk with Qiling Disk Master

Step 1. Connect both drives and open Tools and utilities > Disk/Partition clone. Choose the whole source disk when all partitions must move.

Open the Qiling disk-clone tool

Step 2. Select the source by model and capacity and click Next. The example image highlights a data disk; select your actual source, which may be a different disk.

Step 3. Select the destination and click Next. Verify it a second time because its partitions and existing files will be overwritten.

Step 4. Review the complete source-to-target layout. Check all partitions, especially EFI and recovery partitions for a Windows boot disk. If the target is an SSD, choose SSD optimization when available and appropriate.

Step 5. Click Proceed, confirm the overwrite warning, and wait for completion. Verify copied files or boot the target independently before changing the source.

Conclusion

Model-specific compatibility and a clean first-boot test matter more than the SSD brand. Clone the right disk, then verify the game library location separately.
