Clonezilla Live and Qiling Disk Master can both be used for a supported disk migration, but their workflows are different. Clonezilla boots from its own media and uses text menus; Qiling runs its Windows disk-clone wizard. Select based on comfort, hardware, and disk sizes.
Back up important files separately, save the BitLocker recovery key, and check that the source HDD is healthy. Confirm the SSD interface and capacity. Clonezilla's standard disk-to-disk path is easiest when the destination is at least as large as the source; a smaller target needs special planning and may be unsupported for the selected layout.
Record both drive model names and sizes. The clone will overwrite the target. For Windows, move EFI or System Reserved, C:, recovery, and any wanted data partitions together.
Step 1. Create official Clonezilla Live boot media and connect both disks. Boot from that media, choose language and keyboard layout, then select Start Clonezilla.
Step 2. Choose device-device, then Beginner and disk_to_local_disk. These are the options in the official Clonezilla disk-to-disk guide.
Step 3. Select the source HDD by its model and capacity, then select the SSD as the destination. Pause at the confirmation screen and recheck the order. Accept the destructive prompts only when the target is definitely the SSD.
Step 4. Wait for completion, shut down, remove the boot media, and install the SSD internally. If a larger SSD has unallocated space, inspect the partition layout before expanding C:.
Qiling provides a graphical source, destination, and Proceed workflow while Windows is running. Neither tool repairs a failing HDD or removes the need for a separate backup.
Whichever tool you use, disconnect the old HDD for the first boot if practical. Verify Windows Boot Manager, applications, encryption, and multiple restarts before reusing the source.
These screenshots are for Qiling, not Clonezilla. Use the separate Clonezilla instructions above if you choose its boot-media workflow.
Step 1. Connect the target through a compatible SATA or NVMe port or enclosure. In Qiling Disk Master, choose Tools and utilities > Disk/Partition clone. Attach both healthy drives to the Windows PC and confirm the target SSD is detected.

Step 2. Select the whole source disk row by model and capacity, rather than only C:, and click Next. Choose the complete Windows HDD as source.

Step 3. Select the intended target disk by model and capacity and click Next. The target will be overwritten. Choose the SSD and confirm its existing contents may be erased.

Step 4. Review source, target, and the proposed partition layout. Click Proceed, confirm the erase warning, and keep both drives connected. Check the full boot layout before Proceed.

Step 5. Install the target in its intended position and check it independently before erasing the source. Boot from the SSD independently and verify files and applications.
Clonezilla Live normally boots from separate media for its disk-to-disk workflow.
Keep it unchanged until the SSD boots independently and all important data is verified.
Choose the workflow you can verify carefully, confirm source and target twice, and test the new SSD before retiring the HDD.
