How to Format a Drive Encrypted with BitLocker

Formatting a BitLocker encrypted drive removes the file system and the encrypted data stored on it. It is a valid way to reuse a drive when the data is no longer needed, but it is not a recovery method. If you need the files, unlock the drive and copy them out before formatting.
