How to Recover Deleted EPS vector design Files on Windows

Quick Navigation:

An EPS can contain vector artwork, but a raster preview does not prove the original paths are intact.

Identify the Missing EPS artwork

First decide whether the file was deleted, moved, never saved, or still exists but fails to open. These are different problems. A recovery scan is useful only when a local file was actually stored on a drive and later lost. It cannot recreate unsaved work or repair every damaged file.

Check the native design project, export folder and backup drive first.

Check Backups and Protect the Source

Search the original folder and Recycle Bin by name and extension .eps. Check File History, cloud version history, application backups and any separate copy before scanning. If the original application can still open the project, export or copy it to a safe drive first.

Stop writing new files to the affected disk. If this file came from removable media, disconnect it safely and do not format it. Prepare a different physical drive for the recovered output. On an SSD, deleted blocks may be cleared by TRIM, so no scan can guarantee success.

Recover with Qiling Deep Data Recovery

Qiling Deep Data Recovery scans a storage device visible to Windows for deleted local files. Review any existing backup before using a scan result. A filename shown in results does not prove that the contents are complete.

Step 1. Locate the Original Storage

Find the last known folder for the missing .eps file. Note whether it was on the internal disk, an external drive or a memory card. Close any application writing to that source, then launch Qiling Deep Data Recovery.

Step 2. Choose a Scan Mode

Select Fast Scan for a recently deleted file, Recycle Bin Scan if the bin was emptied, or USB/SD Scan for supported removable media. If a stable device yields no match, try the deeper scan available in the result view.

Step 3. Select the Source Drive

Choose the physical disk that stored the file. Confirm its capacity and drive letter before scanning; do not confuse the source with the backup or output drive. If Windows cannot read the device reliably, stop repeated scans and address hardware stability first.

Step 4. Compare Candidates

Filter by filename or .eps extension. Compare dates, sizes and the original folder. Keep older candidate versions too: the latest listing may be incomplete. Where the file refers to companion assets, search for those files on the same source.

Step 5. Save Elsewhere and Test

Select the likely files, click Recover, and save them to a different physical drive. Preserve the first recovered copy unchanged. Open a duplicate in the intended application and verify content before deleting any backup.

Verify the Recovered Copy

Open a copy in compatible vector software and inspect paths, fonts and dimensions.

If the file fails to open or lacks important content, compare earlier versions and backups. Do not assume that changing its extension repairs the data. Once verified, back up the native file and any linked assets together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a preview replace the missing EPS artwork?

Usually not. A preview or export may omit editable structure, metadata or companion files. Check the original format and a verified backup first.

Why does the recovered .eps file not open?

Its data may be incomplete, overwritten or damaged. Test another candidate and an older backup; file recovery is not the same as file repair.

Where should I save recovered files?

Save to a different physical drive so the recovery process does not overwrite more data on the source.
