How to Clone Laptop Hard Drive
What Will You Need to Clone a Laptop Hard Drive
Here are all that you need for a successful laptop hard drive clone:
1. A Destination Drive
To ensure a successful disk cloning process, you should have a destination hard drive that is at least as large as the source disk, preferably larger. This can be an HDD, SSD, or even a removable disk.
2. A Reliable Disk Cloning Software
To clone a laptop drive to a new drive, you'll need a reliable and user-friendly disk cloning software. Qiling Windows backup software is a great option, as it allows you to easily copy all content from the old disk to the new one with minimal effort. This software is both powerful and safe, making it a great choice for a hassle-free cloning process.
How to Clone a Laptop Hard Drive with Qiling Backup
Useful tips for you to clone a disk/partition with success:
- If the original hard disk contains the system partition, select the option to shut down the computer when the operation is completed, and the software will automatically shut down the computer once the clone is finished.
- To resolve the issue, remove either the source disk or the destination disk from the computer, allowing it to boot normally when the source disk contains the boot partition.
- If you want to boot from the destination disk, we recommend changing the boot order in BIOS to prioritize the destination disk. This will allow your computer to boot from the new disk instead of the original one.
- If the computer fails to boot from the destination disk after cloning, try cloning the source disk to another disk with the same HDD interface.
- If you clone a hidden partition, the cloned partition will be unhidden.
- The large hard drive can be cloned to a smaller one as long as the smaller one has enough capacity to hold the used space of the original drive.
