Disk Drill and Qiling Deep Data Recovery both help Windows users look for deleted or lost files. This guide compares the choices that affect an actual recovery: supported workflow, the free edition's limits, result preview, and where recovered files are saved.
| Question | Disk Drill | Qiling Deep Data Recovery |
|---|---|---|
| Where do I begin? | Select a disk or partition to scan. | Choose the recovery mode, then the original location. |
| Can I review found files? | Yes, preview supported files before recovery. | Yes, filter and preview supported files before recovery. |
| Can I recover to the source drive? | Do not do this; it can overwrite other lost data. | Do not do this; choose another physical disk. |
| Extra protection tools | Disk Drill also describes data-protection and disk-backup features. | Qiling's recovery workflow is separate from its Disk Master backup product. |
Disk Drill's published Windows free-recovery allowance varies across older pages and versions; its current product page describes a smaller allowance than some historical material. Qiling's trial terms can also change. Before installing either tool, check the vendor's current edition page, then verify that your particular files appear and preview correctly. A free scan is not the same as unlimited free recovery.
Do not compare "recovery rates" unless the tools were tested on the same device, file system, and loss event. Files lost on an SSD after TRIM or on a physically damaged disk may not be recoverable by either program.
Stop using the affected disk. If you are recovering from the Windows system drive, install the program elsewhere when practical and prepare another physical disk as the destination.
Step 1. Open Qiling. Pick the mode that matches accidental deletion, formatted storage, or the relevant loss case. Use file filters only if you need to narrow the search.

Step 2. Choose the original partition or device using its size and drive letter. Start the scan and allow it to search for the missing files.

Step 3. Filter the results, preview important files, and select only what you need. If preview is unavailable, treat the result as uncertain rather than assuming it is intact.

Step 4. Click Recover and choose a different physical disk. Confirm that the restored documents, photos, or videos actually open before reusing the original drive.
Choose the tool that finds and previews your required files on the affected device. Disk Drill may appeal if you also want its integrated disk-protection features. Qiling may suit users who prefer a mode-led recovery process. If the disk has hardware symptoms, stop normal software scans and consider an image-first or professional recovery path.
