This feature is particularly useful when customers need to switch from a hard disk drive to a solid state drive. Besides file backup, disk/partition backup, and mail backup, the software's cloning feature helps customers resolve many complex migration affairs.
Qiling Backup provides a simple solution for users to clone their system, allowing them to easily migrate their OS to a new SSD from brands like Samsung, Kingston, Seagate, Crucial, or SanDisk with just one click.
How to Migrate OS to HDD/SSD, Clone System Drive to HDD/SSD
To successfully clone a system to two separate disk partitions, several key considerations come into play. It's essential to ensure that the target partitions are identical in size and formatting to the source partition, including the same file system type, such as NTFS or ext4.
- If the source disk contains the system partition, please shut down the computer after the clone, as this will prevent any potential boot issues.
- To resolve the issue, remove either the source disk or destination disk from the computer, allowing it to boot normally, if the source disk contains the boot partition.
- If you want to boot from the destination disk, we recommend replacing the source disk with the destination disk.
- If the computer fails to boot from the destination disk after cloning, try cloning the source disk to another disk with the same HDD interface.
- If you choose to clone a hidden partition, the cloned one will be unhidden.

To successfully clone Windows 10 to a new HDD or SSD disk, make sure to completely empty the target disk before initiating the cloning process. This ensures a smooth and error-free transfer of the operating system and all installed programs.
Converting your HDD/SSD disk to MBR or GPT, matching the format of your current system disk, will allow for seamless booting of the system after cloning the Windows system.
To clone your Windows 10 OS to a new HDD/SSD without reinstalling Windows, you can use a cloning software like Acronis True Image, Qiling Backup, or Macrium Reflect. These tools allow you to create an exact copy of your existing OS, including all installed programs, settings, and files, to the new drive.
Step 1. Connect the new HDD/SSD to your PC.
Step 2. Run Qiling Backup for Windows 10 Clone.
Click on the "System Clone" icon in the top right corner of the tool panel to select it.
Step 3. Select the source disk you want to clone and click Next.
Step 4. Choose the destination disk - HDD/SSD to save Windows 10 system
Select the new HDD or SSD as the target disk for cloning the Windows 10 system.
Step 5. Then click "Proceed" to start cloning Windows 10 to HDD/SSD now.
Insert your new HDD or SSD into your computer and reboot the PC. Change the boot order to set the computer to boot from the new HDD/SSD with the cloned Windows 10 system.
- To resolve the issue, simply restart your PC and, as it boots up, press the F2 or F8 key to access the BIOS settings.
- In the Boot option, select the new HDD/SSD as the new boot drive and save all the changes.
- Enter BIOS, set the new disk as the primary boot device, exit BIOS and restart the computer. This should allow Windows 10 to run on the new disk without any issues.
