Don't bother with Adobe Illustrator crashes or AI file loss anymore. Here's a complete backup solution to turn on Adobe Illustrator AutoSave feature and backup AI files, protecting your work from crashes and errors.

How to prevent Adobe Illustrator from crashing and avoid AI file loss?

"I've encountered an issue with Adobe Illustrator CC 2016 where the program suddenly crashes and displays a message saying it has stopped working. This has happened multiple times, resulting in the loss of several AI files due to the unexpected shutdown."

You can save your Adobe Illustrator files automatically by setting up an auto-save feature. To do this, go to Edit > Preferences > File Handling, and check the box next to "Save a copy as you work". This will save a copy of your file every 10 minutes, or you can set a custom interval. Additionally, you can also set up a backup system using cloud storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive, which will automatically sync your files across all your devices. This way, even if Illustrator crashes or you experience an error, your files will be safely backed up and easily recoverable.

Adobe users have long struggled with the issue of losing important PSD, AI, or AE files due to program crashes or errors. To avoid this frustration, a complete backup solution can be implemented to automatically save and backup Illustrator files, preventing unexpected Adobe Illustrator crash errors.

To avoid unexpected Adobe file loss due to accidental deletion or program crash, it's best to auto-save or auto-backup Adobe Illustrator files. This ensures that your work is protected and can be recovered even if something goes wrong.

Here are two options to backup Illustrator files with AutoSave feature in AI and auto-backup with professional backup software. Follow either method to auto-save and backup your AI files now.

Step 2. Prevent Adobe Illustrator crash error

To avoid Adobe Illustrator crashing or not working issues, try closing unnecessary files, checking for updates, disabling GPU acceleration, and restarting the app. Additionally, ensure your system meets the minimum requirements, and consider resetting Illustrator preferences or reinstalling the software if the problem persists.

1. Update Adobe Illustrator and Windows system immediately

If you're using the latest Windows 10 but have an outdated Adobe Illustrator, you might experience a rough experience while using AI.
If your Windows system is outdated, it may struggle to update and install drivers for newer programs like Adobe Illustrator, leading to issues where the software can't work or respond properly.
Upgrading your computer system and Adobe Illustrator is recommended to ensure compatibility and optimal performance with the latest Adobe software.

2. Stop using similar graphic editor or programs while running Adobe Illustrator

To avoid issues with Adobe Illustrator, it's best not to run other graphic programs, editors, or software simultaneously on your PC. Running similar programs together with AI can cause the program to crash, fail, or get stuck.
If you're using Adobe Illustrator, it's best not to use other image editors or graphic programs, as they may interfere with the software's functionality.
