Windows systems typically do not allow users to install apps and programs to external storage devices like external hard drives, USB drives, thumb drives, or SD cards.
When installing a new app, Windows may warn you that the selected USB or SD card is not available as the target location, due to the device being removable. This is a security feature to prevent data loss.
If you copy an installed app or program, even with its installation files, to another location or external storage device, the copied programs or apps won't be able to run.
So do we still have a third choice? Sure!
Qiling software enables Windows users to transfer and move useful Apps and installation files to external storage devices without any issues, making it worth a try.
If you want to transfer one or two programs to an SD card or USB device, Qiling Disk Master Free, a free PC transfer software, can help you do so.

Step 1. Connect an empty USB drive to your PC and run Qiling Disk Master
Click "File sync" on the main screen to start.
Step 2. Select applications, programs, and software to transfer
Select the source partition where you installed apps, and then tick the programs marked as "Yes" that you'd like to move to your USB drive.
To move the selected programs to the USB without reinstalling them, click the browse icon and select the USB as the target location.
Step 3. Transfer and move selected apps, programs, and software to USB
To initiate the file transfer, click the "Proceed" button. This will start the transferring process, and you should wait for it to complete.
Note: 1. After the transferring, restart the PC if necessary. Then you can run the transferred programs on your USB drive without reinstallation.
2. You can only run and launch transferred programs from the USB on your source PC, not on other computers.
1. You can only use the transferred apps or programs smoothly if the external storage device is connected to your source computer.
2. Since there's no shortcut of the transferred App in the USB or SD card, you just need to select the right app file (like .exe) to run it on your PC.
3. If you transfer a program, it usually won't ask for verification again after the transfer is complete. However, if the transferred program does prompt you with a verification window, you'll need to log in with your account as required.
