Partition Magic, developed by Symantec, was a popular partition resize software under Windows 98, 2000, and XP, but it has not been updated since being acquired by Symantec and is now unstable, potentially causing problems or system crashes when resizing partitions, even under Windows 10.
I strongly recommend against using it to resize Windows 10 partitions, but I will show you how to resize Windows 8 partitions with a partition magic alternative, Qiling Partition Master Free Edition (Freeware), in this article.
Qiling Partition Master Free Edition is a partition magic alternative tool that offers a simple and convenient way to manage your partitions, running smoothly on Windows 10. It enables you to extend the system partition, create, delete, resize/move, copy, merge, or split partitions, making it a reliable solution for partition management under Windows 10.
Step 1. Shrink partition to free up space to extend partition.
If the hard drive has enough unallocated space to extend the target partition, jump to step 2. Otherwise, free up space first.
Step 2. Extend target partition.
Click on the target partition and select "Resize/Move".
To extend the target partition, you need to drag the partition handle into the unallocated space. This will increase the size of the partition by using the available space.
Step 3. Keep all changes.
Click the "Proceed" to keep all changes.

Qiling Partition software offers additional features beyond partition management, including a Partition Recovery Wizard to recover deleted or lost partitions, and a Copy disk & partition wizard to upgrade or backup disk.
