Setting up your new iPhone X requires a few steps to get it ready for use. Before you start, you may want to back up your old iPhone to a computer or transfer all your data to your new device to keep your important files and settings intact. Once you're ready, follow the step-by-step guide to activate and set up your new iPhone X.
To set up your iPhone X, click on "Set Up Manually" on your iPhone screen. If you have another iOS 11 device, you can use "Quick Start" to set up your iPhone X, following the on-screen instructions. Otherwise, use "Set up Manually".
To activate your iPhone X, connect it to a WiFi or cellular network. If no WiFi is available, you can use the cellular network by inserting your SIM card first.
Set up your Touch ID by tapping on "Continue" and following the onscreen instructions, or click "Set Up Touch ID Later" if you don't need it.
Setting a passcode is necessary to protect your iPhone data and use features like Touch ID and Apply Pay. You can choose to create a four-digit password, custom password or no password. This can be done after setting up your iPhone X.
If you have backed up your previous iPhone using iCloud or iTunes, you can choose to restore from your backup, or if you don't have any data to transfer, you can set up your new iPhone X as a new device.
If you have an Apple ID, enter your Apple ID and password, or click "Don't have an Apple ID or forget it" if you need to create a new one or recover a forgotten one. If you have multiple Apple IDs, select "Use different Apple IDs for iCloud & iTunes" to specify which one to use for each service.
To set up your iPhone X, you need to agree with the iOS Terms and Conditions and turn on Location Services, which is necessary for using some Apps like Maps and Find My iPhone, but can also be turned off in iOS 11 if desired.
After signing in with your Apple ID, set up Apple Pay and iCloud Keychain by following the instructions.
You can choose whether to use Siri or not when you set up your iPhone X.
You can choose whether to share data or information with App Developers. If you're willing to share, choose "Share with App Developers", if not, choose "Don't Share".
To make images appear more natural on your iPhone X, turn on True Tone display.
Set up your Home button by adjusting its click to your preference, then tap Next to continue.
To finish setting up your iPhone X, you'll need to choose a display resolution, either STANDARD or ZOOMED, and then tap Next to continue. This completes the initial setup process.
