You have created an encrypted container, but the files you meant to protect are still sitting in ordinary folders. Until they are moved inside, the container protects nothing, and the plain copies remain open to anyone who uses the PC.
This guide explains how to move files into an encrypted container on Windows with Qiling Safe Disk, and how to confirm the move is clean so no unprotected copies are left behind.
An encrypted container is a single file that acts like a locked folder.
Because the container is a normal file, moving data into it is as simple as dragging files into a folder, but with one difference: the source copies must be removed afterward.
If you only need a password on a single folder, a container is not the only option; see How to Encrypt a Folder with a Password for that approach.
A little planning avoids the common mistake of moving some files and forgetting others.
Qiling Safe Disk mounts the container as a drive letter, so you can move files into it like any folder. Download and install it first.
Step 1. Open Qiling Safe Disk and click Mount, then select your container and enter the password.

Step 2. Open the mounted drive letter in File Explorer.
Step 3. Move, not copy, the sensitive folders into the mounted drive.
Step 4. Open a few moved files inside the container to confirm they are intact.
Step 5. Empty the original folder location and clear the Recycle Bin so no plain copies remain.

Step 6. Unmount the container so the files lock again.
The move is only finished when the only copy left is inside the locked container.
Move them. Copying leaves the original in the open, which defeats the purpose of encryption.
Create a larger container, or move files in groups over several sessions.
Yes. While mounted, the container acts like a normal drive, so you can move, rename, and organize files freely.
Yes, once you have confirmed the moved files open correctly inside the container.
Yes. The container preserves the structure you create inside it, so folders stay organized exactly as you arrange them.
Before installing security software or changing storage, create a full Windows backup. Qiling Disk Master creates a system image you can restore from.
Step 1. Open Qiling Disk Master and select System Backup to include Windows and the boot partitions.
Step 2. Save the image to a drive other than the Windows disk and start the backup.
Step 3. If a change causes issues, restore from the image to return Windows to its working state.
Creating an encrypted container is only half the job; the files you want to protect must actually move inside it. With Qiling Safe Disk, mount the container, move rather than copy your sensitive folders into the mounted drive, open a few files to confirm they are intact, and then clear the originals and the Recycle Bin. Search for leftover copies in email, cloud folders, and other drives, and unmount the container when you are done. The move is complete only when the single remaining copy is locked inside the AES-256 container.
