Windows 11/10 with more features has arrived, allowing users to upgrade from Windows 7/8 to Windows 10/11 or directly upgrade to the latest OS from Windows XP. However, the process of transferring data and programs to the new PC can be a big problem. To resolve this, users can clone the whole drive from the old computer to the new one, backup and move crucial data, or use Windows Easy Transfer (although this is unavailable for Windows 8.1, 8.x, and 10/11). For more information, users can visit the solution page for Windows 10/11 upgrade.
Transferring programs to a new computer with a new Operating System like Windows 10 is a more challenging task compared to file migration. However, there are direct or indirect ways to migrate software to the new OS and computer, which will be introduced below.
Qiling Disk Master Free allows data and programs to be migrated between PCs without a network, and also supports transferring software to a new OS on the same PC.
Step 1. Create a backup image of installed apps
1. Launch Qiling Disk Master on your PC and go to "Backup & Restore", click "File backup" to proceed.
2. Click on the "Browse" button to select a location to save the backup file.
3. On the "Application" section, select the applications you want to back up.
4. Click "Proceed" to start creating the backup image of selected applications. When the process is complete, you can proceed with the next step.
Step 2. Restore apps from the created backup file
If the app exists on your PC, it won't restore the app image to your PC, so you'll need to uninstall the existing one and then retry with the next steps.
1. Copy the backup file to your target computer and run Qiling Disk Master.
2. To select the Qiling Disk Master image, click on the "Browse" button. This will allow you to choose the correct image for your device.
3. On the Application section, select the programs and applications you want to restore from the image file and click "Proceed".
You need to keep PCs in the same LAN network for direct transfer, but it doesn't support transferring software to a new OS on the same PC.
Step 1. Launch Qiling Disk Master on your source and target computers, and connect both PCs via the internet.
1. At the "Backup and recovery" section, click "File sync" to proceed.
2. Select your target computer via its device name, then enter its account password or verification code and choose the transfer direction, after which click "Connect" to proceed.
You can check the verification code on the top right of the "PC to PC" main screen on the target computer.
Step 2. To transfer certain types of data across the internet, select the categories of Applications, Files, and Accounts. This will allow you to move specific types of data, such as installed software, files, and account information, via the internet.
To transfer data selectively, click "Edit" under each category and select the specific items you want to transfer.
Step 3. To start transferring your apps/files/accounts from one computer to another computer via the Internet, click "Proceed".
Users can choose the best method to transfer data, files, and applications to Windows 10/11 based on their situation, and it's recommended to back up important data before upgrading or replacing their PC.
